Denso is a leading manufacturer of industrial and medical Robotics. The Colabot project was a conceptual expiration into the potential of assistive robotics.

Colabot Shop is a robotic shopping basket which aids people in the efficient collection of goods, whilst offering an enhanced shopping experience. The self-drive/self carry robot lends itself especially well to the assistance of the elderly and physically impaired, when undertaking difficult tasks like shopping.

Colabot was one of ten different robots we were tasked with designing, built upon a modular battery-powered electric motorised base. Robots ranged from logistics, transportation, through to communication. We created alongside Denso engineers a  working prototype controlled via a computerised ‘cloud’ control system which leveraged in wi-fi and a WPS positioning system.

The conceptual design of a smartphone application allows store customers to create a shopping list remotely from their phone. On arrival at the store, a Colabot Shop is then paired with its respective customer.
